2021 Kidding Schedule
Unless otherwise noted, doelings and bucklings are $350; wethers are $100 or two for $150. Reservations prior to kidding are taken on a first-come, first-served basis via our contact form, and Took a Leap Farm reserves the right to retain any kid born on the farm. There is no fee for a reservation until kids are born and selected, at which point a non-refundable fee of $100, payable online, is required to hold a kid (or two wethers) until pick-up.
With the exception of wethers and pet-quality doelings, all kids will be sold tattooed and registered with ADGA.
Our closed herd was tested for CAE, CL, Johne's, brucellosis, and tuberculosis in May 2018, with all animals negative; we will retest in the spring of 2021.

Incredibly, we've never retained a doeling out of Scanny, and as she heads toward retirement, we're going to try one more time to get a keeper girl Doelings $450; no bucklings Breeder to retain one doeling. |
||
TBD |
Making the most of our SUgar Moon genetics as our animals get a bit older...Penuchi and Waldo have each produced beautiful kids -- Beaner Weiner, out of a Penuchi daughter and sired by Waldo, knocked our socks off this year as a first freshener! Doelings $500; no bucklings |
||
TBD |
Tasha is the tops -- her linear appraisal scores (LA92 EEEE) speak for themselves, and she's our most productive milker, with an extraordinary udder. This breeding with Yellow Jacket brings in the dairy production of the NC PromisedLand Diva line...can't wait to see the results! Doelings $600; bucklings $500 Breeder to retain one doeling and one buckling. NOTE: All kids will be sold as pets unless we are able to confirm sire's lineage via DNA. |
||
TBD |
We are waiting to decide whether or not to breed Rita (LA91 EEEE) given that she may have had a minor stroke earlier this year. She's almost fully-recovered, but we want to take care that we don't overtax her system with a pregnancy. We're hopeful that we can breed her to Waldo, as Rita is a phenomenal doe and has given us a number of "keeper" kids. Doelings $600; bucklings $500 Breeder to retain one doeling. |
||
TBD |
Another stellar Sugar Moon doe, Winnie has given us a number of beautiful, productive daughters. We're pairing her up with Geronimo, whose 2020 kids were absolutely stunning! Doelings: $500; no bucklings |
||
TBD |
Koko didn't settle last year, but we're crossing our fingers that she does this year. She's nothing if not an NC PromisedLand Ram Beau daughter -- she's got the lovely teats and beautiful udder that typify his offspring. |
||
TBD |
Fiala is the resident "brat" -- but we keep her around because she's an amaaaaazing milker with terrific production in her pedigree. (Her littermate sister from 2013, Sugar Moon V Zuzanna, has been breaking production records left and right at Amethyst Acres Farm, where she recently became the highest-producing Nigerian dwarf goat of all time.) Combining all of that dairy goodness with the NC PromisedLand Diva genetics in Yellow Jacket should make for some terrific kids! Doelings $600; bucklings $500 Breeder to retain one doeling. NOTE: All kids will be sold as pets unless we are able to confirm sire's lineage via DNA. |
||
TBD |
Minnie came into her own in 2019, with an outstanding year on the stand and a good showing at our linear appraisal (LA87). We're excited about this breeding to DWB, son of two SG animals - Tiny Angels Maybeline (LA90) and Chenango Hills Prince Valiant. NOTE: All kids will be sold as pets unless we are able to confirm sire's lineage via DNA. |

Whiskey is one of those goats that we are sosososo happy to have in our herd - she's the retained daughter of NC PromisedLand BW Echo 2 and Sugar Moon Viva Las Vegas, bred by Sharon Peck but born here at Took a Leap Farm. Again, the selection of Yellow Jacket for this breeding is intended to bring the Diva dairy genetics and create powerhouse doelings! Doelings $600; bucklings $450. Breeder to retain one doeling. |

Huehue (pronounced "way-way") is a lovely little doe -- flashy and productive, thanks to some sweet genetics from Second Wind Kona and Painted Pepper RJ Soleil. Looking forward to seeing kids from this pairing with Waldo, who brings coveted Sugar Moon Viva Las Vegas genetics to the breeding! |
||
TBD |
Daughter of Lily, Cherry is following in her dam's footprints with a beautiful, capacious udder -- and we know she has more in store as she matures! Paired with Uwa for 2021 kids, she should produce some exciting offspring! |
||
TBD |
We've enjoyed working with Chiva as a second freshener...she's got her dam's voluminous udder with improved teat and orifice size. We're looking forward to seeing her Sugar Moon-heavy kids with Mambo, grandson of Weedy Tavern Lilly (LA93). |
||
TBD |
As a first freshener, Fandango has KILLED it...she is pumping out the milk like her damn, Fiala. We love her elegant dairy character, and we're stoked to see what this breeding with Shel Silverstein, a Tasha Tudor x Waldo Pepper son, produces! Doelings: $500; bucklings $400 Breeder to retain one doeling. |
||
Took a Leap G Tyrian |
TBD |
Beaner Wiener has been our "baby" since she was born. She was itty bitty for the longest time, but then she started to mature into a lovely little doe who has been a real surprise as a first freshener. We're pairing her with Tyrian, our yearling buckling out of Fiala, for more powerhouse doelings! Breeder to retain one doeling. |
|
TBD |
Mico got off to a rough start on her first freshening with extremely premature kids. While her udder didn't fully develop, she , is a beautiful little doe out of Sugar Moon Dulcinea. The first of DWB's daughters to kid, Mico is paired with Mambo Rap for more awesome Valley's Edge genetics! |
||
TBD |
Eulalia had a terrific first freshening - and we're looking forward to more good things as she matures! |
||
TBD |
Jacaranda is heavily line-bred on Sugar Moon V Fiala, littermate sister to the top-producing Nigerian of all time, Sugar Moon V Zuzanna. We're eager to see what this pairing produces....hoping Geronimo brings a bit more power to Jac, who is a very petite little girl. |
