GET YOUR GOAT!

Picture
Like many goat farms, Took a Leap Farm offers both adult goats and kids for sale each year; currently available animals are listed below.  Dairy-quality (ADGA-registered) animals begin at $350; wethers are $100 each or two for $150.  (Please note that we do require that new goat owners purchase two goats or have another suitable companion animal in residence, as a goat alone is an unhappy goat, indeed.) . Discounts are available for the purchase of multiple goats.

We require a $100 deposit to reserve an animal.

We maintain a closed herd and conduct regular tests for tuberculosis, brucellosis, Johne's, CAE, and CL.  Our last tests, in May of 2018, were all negative.

We dam-raise the majority of our kids, as we feel that they should bond with and learn to be goats from their mamas.  We wean at approximately 8 weeks or 15 pounds.  Occasionally, we do bottle-feed our kids if the dam has a large litter or their are complications with kidding.  All of our goats are disbudded shortly after birth and up-to-date on shots before going to their new homes.  In addition, wethers are castrated (using a burdizzo) at 8-10 weeks of age.

We provide full health records and ongoing support for each of our goats when sold.

Available Does

We are evaluating our herd to determine which does will be available in 2018 and anticipate having dry, bred, and in-milk does for sale.  If you are interested in a particular goat, please inquire.

Available Bucks

None available.

Available Kids

New babies will start arriving in March 2021...check out our kidding schedule for pairings and reservations, and watch for updates as kidding season gets into swing this spring!
